WHAT ENTREPRENEURS AND GOLFERS CAN LEARN FROM EACH OTHER

To be frank, golfers aren't the only ones to hit it out of bounds at times. Entrepreneurs know all too well what it's like to have their ideas, plans, goals, and dreams "end up changing the outcome of their game." However, similar to maintaining swing discipline, it's equally as important for entrepreneurs to essentially step back up and deliver.

Both entrepreneurs and golfers need to have a specific and clear vision. In golf, players need to have a goal with specificity in sight of how they want to play each hole, and what their expectations as well as their strengths and weaknesses are in the moment. So does the entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs need to have a clear idea of what problem they are solving, who their target customers are, and how they plan to grow their business. Golfers need to have a clear understanding of their environment, and the strategies each stroke and hole takes.

Golfers and entrepreneurs need to be resilient. Golfers need to bounce back from those bad shots that will inevitably happen and move onto the next shot. Entrepreneurs need to be able to bounce back from failures and setbacks, knowing that there will always be another opportunity to succeed.

Some more commonalities both require/need:

  1. Practice and experience for what they do in excellence.

  2. To be adaptable to their environment and whatever is thrown at them.

  3. Hard work and dedication to achieve success.

  4. To have a clear vision of what they want to achieve.

  5. To be adaptable to changes and adjust their strategies accordingly.

  6. To be resilient in the face of failure and setbacks.

  7. A strong work ethic and discipline to stay focused and achieve goals.

  8. To be willing to take risks in order to succeed.

  9. A high level of skill and expertise in their respective fields.

  10. The ability to think strategically and make decisions under pressure.

  11. To have a passion for what they do in order to stay motivated and driven.

  12. To let go and enjoy the journey.

There are many lessons that entrepreneurs can learn from golfers and vice versa. Both endeavors require vision, adaptability, resiliency, and teamwork. As an executive, life and mind health coach let me know how I can improve your game?
